This story isn't particularly interesting but i want it on my blog as more of a journal entry because it is a good memory that i don't want to lose.
For the first time possibly since we got up to Canadia Campy and i had a several days off together. We set about making trouble. We were fairly successful at this, but there is one night in particular that stands out from this short vacation.
We had been about making trouble most of the day and of course ended up at the Chill Winstone. We spend far to much time/money here, and when we sit down it is really more like drinking with all of our friends than just siting at a bar.
Anywho, the bar closes, the lights come on and we continue to sit and drink. One of the servers (a delightful girl by the name of Janine) sits down with us and utters the fateful words "i don't think i have ever sat down for a drink with you guys". This was her first mistake. After a good hour of after-hours conversation spanning from the socio-gender implications of whisterler bar television choices to masturbation aids (read as fleshlight), the closing staff are done with their duty's.
We however, are not done with our night.
We book it down to the lamplighter which has a later closing time, and although we are fairly certain they had a hard close going on, we get a round of booze. Short conversation follows, and we are asked to move our party elsewhere. Not to be deterred by the late hour Kelly Carbery (possibly the most fabulous bartender north of the border) says "so where are we going now?"
luckily i am fully prepared for such an eventuality, and have on hand at all times my just in case-case of wine. My abode is proffered and we relocate. The wine begins to flow, and as members of the industry are want to do, shop talk ensues. Now normally i am down with shop talk, especially if it is interesting and i am involved, however this was procedural bullshit and i end up strumming my guitar and campy sets in to his iphone.
At long last the shop talk is resolved and we begin music and drinking in earnest. When there is an amount of booze with no functional limit, a guitar, and people that want to listen, i can go for quite some time. This was the case that night. and while Miss Carbery fairly early in the night buried her head in Janines lap and drifted to sleep (never mind our rather rambunctious interpretations of last decades hits) Janine, Campy and I strummed and laughed until the sun came up.
It has been a while since i have participated in such things, and they were sorely missed. After the sun started to rise we checked the time and realized that we really only had an hour until the local breakfast spot opened. Kelly was left on the couch. She awoke long enough to ask "hey, wait where am i?" and after it was explained that she was at my place she said "oh, that's fine, go ahead"
Campy fell asleep waiting for his food, and woke up in the act of eating hashbrowns. Something that i imagine would be both startling and delicious.
After breakfast we all stumbled home, some to bed (me) some to hair appointments (Janine) and some to eye doctors (Campy). Magic and fun were had by all, I anticipate a repeat of such festivities in the near future.
