Roller Sprints

Some of you know and some of you don't, but I am going to become the Godfather of Goldsprints in Vancouver BC. Read the Wiki it will make sense.

So I first heard about this thing through my good buddy Big Sean (six foot three, blue eyes, wants to be a doctor). He went to NYC and went to an event and said it was one of the coolest things he had ever been to. Being in a big city myself i thought "shit, i want to go, i wonder if things are happening round here".

Short answer is no. So I started to look into why that is. Turns out no one sells a rig. That's right, capitalist America doesn't make something that people want to buy, bullshit right? It kind of makes sense since you can pay someone (like surley) to come out and do an event for you, if you pay them a load of fat skrilla. Fuck that right?

My friend Marx told me that you gots to own the means of production, otherwise you are a chump (i think he used a bigger word). So i keep poking about, and i find an opensource technology community that tells you how to make it. You just have to solder it up from blank circuit boards, Load firmware onto a blank USB processor, and build a graphics interpreter for Ruby from source code. No problem right?

Fortunately i am much too stupid to stop trying when i don't know the first thing about a subject. The internet is an amazing instructor if you are patient and have the right kind of stupid;)

So i built it. First step done. I am partnering with a local fixed gear shop. We are chasing down a warehouse space. It will be monthly event, race series, big prizes. Art in the warehouse. Music. I am going to light this city on fire with bicycles and beats.

Updates as we figure shit out.
